I bought a new car, but I didn't receive the new temporary paper?
Im not sure what California law states, but Im sure its very particular. I had a similar situation occur once with a registration in PA. The temp tags had expired and there was a mileage issue with the registration which required a review by PAs state capital before you could be issued a current registration. I had a State Trooper sign off on a state document verifying the correct mileage and was waiting for the state to send me my registration. During this time, I was pulled over several times and never received a citation. My best suggestion to you is to carry all of the documentation verifying that you legally purchased the vehicle and you have taken the necessary steps to acquire your tags and hope for the best. I would assume if its a state issue, then you should be okay, but that obviously depends on California law.
