If youre buying a car from an individual, the Bill of Sale represents your tag until you get to the county clerk to get it registered (and pays sales tax, again depending on state). Get to the Clerks office ASAP to avoid any unnecessary attention from Law Enforcement. Highly recommend you do your person to person sale at the Clerks office.
